Primato Chestnut

Price range: $12.00 through $30.00

(Castanea sativa x crenata) Primato is the first to drop its nuts at the start of the season, hence its name. It is a European-Japanese hybrid chestnut from Italy. Primato produces large to very large, sweet and flavorful nuts that peel well. Very good producer.

Very early ripening (early September), also early to leaf out and bloom. Primato is a good pollen producer. Some blight resistance.

All grafted Primato trees are grafted on 2-year old Primato seedling rootstock unless otherwise noted. Scion length listed in product variations refers to scion growth above graft union. The tree itself will be ~1ft longer (~2ft including roots).
