Gamma Hazelnut
$25.00
Gamma hazelnut trees are excellent pollinizers for Dorris and Yamhill. and may be used as early pollinizer for Jefferson. They are resistant to Eastern Filbert Blight. Gamma blooms and sheds pollen mid-season, and it’s flowering time is very short. It is a very good producer of medium-sized nuts. While it is mostly grown as pollinizer for the main producer varieties, it is becoming increasingly popular as a nut producer in its own right.
The 1-year tie-off propagated trees we sell are of good size and caliper, most are 5 feet long, 3/8″ caliper and have strong roots. These trees were propagated by tie-off layering of suckers and will typically begin bearing nuts in 2-3 years. Due to their length, we will cut them back to about 3 feet when shipped, which will not impact their ability to quickly grow to a healthy nut-bearing tree. If you choose local pickup they will not be trimmed.
