Nevada Chestnut
$10.00 – $30.00
(Castanea spp., probably sativa x crenata or mollisima) Nevada chestnut is a a sativa hybrid that originated in California. It is a very good pollinizer and considered the standard pollinizer for Colossal chestnut. The male flowers (catkins) are very bushy (long stamens) with abundant pollen.
The tree is very vigorous and upright growing. It produces medium to large nuts that ripen very late.
If you are planting Colossal chestnuts, you seriously want to consider planting at least one of these as a pollinizer.
