Marsol Chestnut

(Castanea sativa x crenata) Marsol is a European-Japanese hybrid chestnut from France, producing very large, sweet nuts with a nice complex flavor. Nuts peel very easily. Marsol is a cold-hardy tree that is erect growing and vigorous. It is particularly resistant to ink disease (phytophthora root rot) and is often used as root-rot-resistant rootstock in Europe. Blight tolerant, one of the most blight resistant sativa-crenata hybrids.
Marsol nuts ripen early to mid season. It is also a very good pollinator.
