Dorris Hazelnut

$25.00

Dorris is a hazelnut tree introduced by Oregon State University in 2012. Dorris is immune to Eastern Filbert Blight. It produces very flavorful nuts that are great eaten fresh or roasted. Dorris is a small compact tree but a very good producer, and a great choice for home orchards. We recommend Gamma as a suitable pollinizer, or plant with Jefferson for cross-pollination.

The Dorris variety is patented by Oregon State University. Propagation of this variety requires a licensing agreement with the office of OCCD at Oregon State University and a current ODA Nursery License.

The 1-year tie-off propagated trees we sell are of good size and caliper, most are 5 feet long, 3/8″ caliper and have strong roots. These trees were propagated by tie-off layering of suckers and will typically begin bearing nuts in 2-3 years. Due to their length, we will cut them back to about 3 feet when shipped, which will not impact their ability to quickly grow to a healthy nut-bearing tree. If you choose local pickup they will not be trimmed.
