Carpathian English Walnut
$10.00
Originally from the Carpathian Mountains in Poland. This Carpathian Walnut strain of English or Persian Walnut (Juglans regia var. carpathian) is known for its winter hardiness and late blooming in spring.
Carpathian walnuts have several distinct advantages as a nut tree. They start production earlier (usually in 4 to 7 years) and they produce nuts for up to 100 years.
An 8 year old tree can yield a bushel of shelled nuts, by 15 years, 4 bushels. The nuts are thin shelled and easy to open and have a rich buttery flavor that is considered to be among the best of all walnuts, Carpathians’ cold hardiness, to USDA Zone 5, makes them the ideal northern walnut for nut production.
USDA regulations prohibit shipping of Juglans species to the following states: AR, AZ, CA, IA, IL, IN, KS, MI, MO, MS, NE, TX, and WV.
