Black Cottonwood
$5.00 – $10.00
These black cottonwood saplings come from cuttings of a tree which grew out of a cut log from one of the oldest planted cottonwoods in Eugene, Oregon. These trees are fast growers with a lovely dappled shade and the characteristic bright green and grey of poplars. These trees can be planted as a hedgerow or border and coppiced to make a dense hedge or privacy screen, or planted out individually to grow into large magnificent trees.
Cottonwood is a water lover and will do well even in wet boggy or clay soils. Expect to see fast growth – over six feet a year is common for this species.
