(Castanea sativa) This French Castanea sativa is a fast growing medium sized chestnut tree with excellent medium to large nuts of beautiful reddish mahogany color. Easy to peel and sweet tasting, the tree produces large consistent crops and is a very good mid to late blooming pollinator.
Belle Epine is a good pollinator for Marron de Lyon, Marigoule, and others.
Belle Epine is a mid to late blooming and late harvest tree crop, being one of the latest to drop. In cooler climates the burrs will fall unopened, keeping them safe from squirrels and rodents.
