(Castanea sativa x crenata) This is a popular cultivar. Bouche de Betizac (BdB) is a European-Japanese hybrid chestnut from France. It produces very large sweet Marron-quality nuts that peel well. The tree is very vigorous and very erect and is a good producers. Some blight resistance since it’s a crenata hybrid.
Mid to late ripening, but still ripens in areas with cooler summers. Bouche de Betizac is pollen sterile and requires a pollinizer tree. Potential pollinizer choices for BdB are Precoce Migoule, Marigoule, or Marsol.
All grafted Bouche de Betizac trees are grafted on 2-year old Bouche de Betizac seedling rootstock unless otherwise noted. Scion length listed in product variations refers to scion growth above graft union. The tree itself will be ~1ft longer (~2ft including roots).
