Black Elderberry Samdal

$10.00

Black Elderberry starts from cuttings (Sambucus nigra Samdal)

Elderberries are well known for their anti-vral and immune boosting properties. You can make Elderberry syrup from dried berries, and the elderberry syrup you find in your health food store is typically made from European black elderberries.

Samdal is a variety of European black elderberry (Sambuccus nigra). It is a newer commercial cultivar from Denmark. European black elderberries are very productive, and cold hardy to well below 0°F. Samdal Elderberry likes full sun to partial shade, and grows up to 8 feet tall. Plants start bearing berries early, on two year old wood.

Samdal is partly self-fertile, which means you don’t need another variety for cross pollination. However, you get more berries if you do plant another variety. Samdal produces large clusters of white flowers followed by dark purple berries that are especially high in antioxidants.
