(Castanea sativa x crenata) Primato is the first to drop its nuts at the start of the season, hence its name. It is a European-Japanese hybrid chestnut from Italy. Primato produces large to very large, sweet and flavorful nuts that peel well. Very good producer.
Very early ripening (early September), also early to leaf out and bloom. Primato is a good pollen producer. Some blight resistance.
